On March 18, 2023, The New Orleans (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated hosted the 34th local competition of the annual Scripps National Spelling Bee at Dillard University in New Orleans. The winner of the local competition is awarded the opportunity to compete in the Scripps National Spelling Bee to be held in National Harbor, Maryland, May 22-27, 2023. The finals will be telecast live on the ION network the evening of June 1, 2023.
The local winners are:
1st place: Nayara de Silva-Ahmed, Metairie Park Country Day School
2nd place: Clark Canizaro, Stuart Hall
3rd place: Ezra Miley, Metairie Park Country Day School
