New Orleans Chapter members Crystal McDonald And Deborah “Deb” Elam were featured in two prominent business publications in July 2017.
Entrepreneur Crystal McDonald, founder and CEO of Acrew, was featured as one of the first New and Notables of Biz New Orleans magazine. Acrew is a unique demand video interviewing solution. In four years, the company has grown from concept to a thriving “resume-less” job marketplace for hourly workers. More than 50 regional employers use its video-based hiring system. Moreover, the company and Crystal have garnered awards and recognition since the company’s startup. Most recently, on March 24, 2017, during New Orleans Entrepreneur Week, Acrew won the prestigious Coulter IdeaPitch. Along with the invaluable recognition, the company garnered a $100,000 investment.

The Chapter’s own Deborah “Deb” Elam was featured in Forbes magazine this month. Deborah recently retired as President of the GE Foundation and GE Chief Diversity Officer after 30 years of outstanding service.
Among her many honors, Deborah was named one of the 50 Most Powerful Women in US Philanthropy by Inside Philanthropy. She received the Enhancing Perceptions in Culture Award by the White House Project and the Women of Power Award, which award is given by the National Urban League to influential women in the civil rights, government, entertainment, journalism, sports and corporate sectors. She is also a recipient of the Keeper of the Dream Award presented by Rev. Al Sharpton and the National Action Network. In 2005, The Network Journal Magazine named her one of Twenty-Five Most Influential Black Women in Business. In 2016, Deborah joined the LSU Foundation Board of Directors.
Recently, Deborah launched Corporate Playbook – a business consulting firm that specializes in Executive Coaching and Strategic Solutions. Headquartered in New Orleans, the company develops Senior Executives globally across industries and coaches organizations to elevate Diversity, Inclusion and Philanthropy.
