New Orleans Chapter of The Links, Incorporated member Michelle Blouin-Williams was named by New Orleans City Business as one of the 2017 Women of The Year. Fifty honorees were chosen for the special honor, which recognizes “outstanding women whose successes in business and contributions to the community have set the pace for our region’s future.” According to City Business, these women are “innovative leaders who are making waves with their energy, ideas, achievements and commitment to excellence in the area.”
Michelle Blouin-Williams was born, raised, and educated in New Orleans. She has deep ties to the community and extensive leadership experience in the field of education. Michelle became the Chief Executive Officer of New Beginnings Schools Foundation (NBSF) in July of 2016. As CEO, Michelle oversees three schools (Pierre A. Capdeau at Avery Alexander, Menard Nelson and Lake Area High School), specifically working to increase academic support, special programs, and extracurricular activities. With her expertise in leadership and education, she manages operations and employs best practices for each school.
Before joining the NBSF Family, Michelle served as Senior Chief Administrative Officer of the Orleans Parish School Board, where she oversaw district run non-academic operations, administrative functions, and district-wide initiatives. Her tenure as an educational leader includes serving as the Chief Human Capital Officer, Mathematics Teacher, Secondary Mathematics Consultant, Chief Academic Officer, Network Executive Director, and Deputy/Acting Superintendent in Jefferson Parish. She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Mathematics from Xavier University of Louisiana and a Masters of Arts in the Science of Teaching Mathematics from the University of New Orleans.
The 19th annual “Women of the Year” were recognized at a noon luncheon Thursday, Nov. 2 at the Hyatt Regency. Each of the 50 honorees’s professional and community achievements were highlighted.
