New Orleans Chapter member Deb Elam hosted an evening of women celebrating women on the eve of International Women’s Day. ‘Dining With Deb’ was Ms. Elam’s inaugural event with more to come in the months ahead.
To be sure, it was a truly wonderful dining experience, but it was, as Deb noted, much more – “an evening to give women time away from everything else to gain leadership insights, perspectives and capacity”. It was an event that brought together professional women from all racial, political and religious backgrounds meaningfully connecting and engaging in conversation.
The keynote speaker was ABC News and NPR political commentator, and New Orleans’ own, Cokie Roberts. Ms. Elam engaged the audience in a Q & A with Ms. Roberts discussing the politics of the day and reminisenses of New Orleans’ past and a look to its future.
Other speakers included Andrea Chen, Co-Founder and Executive Director of Propeller; Chelsea Hayes, CEO and Principal Consultant of The Coaching Factory, LLC; and Camille Whitworth, Journalist, owner of Victory and New Orleans Drink Lab and newly formed media company Media by Deisgn.
As New Orleans celebrates its 300th year anniversay, Deb Elam incorporated a wonderful video tribute to women who made, and are continuing to make, New Orleans great.
We cannot wait for the next ‘Dining with Deb’ experience.
