Kudos to Angele Thibodeaux Burns, who now serves as the Youth Empowerment Project (YEP), Site Director of the New Orleans East program. YEP provides education, mentoring, job readiness and enrichment to youth in the community, in conjunction with the New East Community Center.
PROGRAMS OFFERED by YEP IN NEW ORLEANS EAST:
YEP ENRICHES offers an afterschool program in New Orleans East. Participants have
access to a large field and gymnasium for enrichment activities.
YEP EDUCATES offers high school equivalency instruction in English and Spanish.
YEP MENTORS hosts weekly groups with participants who reside in New Orleans East. Recently, mentees have been learning the basics of cooking and nutrition.
YEP WORKS, in 2023, will offer a 10-week employment readiness training program.
