The New Orleans (LA) Chapter of the Links, Incorporated and Breakthrough NOLA conducted a tremendously successful healthy living and pediatric obesity prevention symposium. The day included a round table discussion about healthy habits for daily living led by a panel of local medical and health authorities and physical trainers; cooking demonstrations by local chefs; and exercise demonstrations.
The New Orleans (LA) Chapter is committed to the goal of increasing awareness and heightening understanding about the multi-dimensional issues that contribute to obesity in African-American children and their families. Through an action-oriented agenda we disseminate key messages that aid in the prevention of childhood obesity among African-American children and we establish collaborative networks to sustain on-going health initiatives.
