On Saturday, March 9, the New Orleans Chapter of the Links, Incorporated participated in “The Red Umbrella HIV / AIDS Awareness Second-Line March.” This
event was co-sponsored by our sister Links in the Crescent City Chapter of the Links, Incorporated, and The Greater New Orleans Chapter of the National Coalition of 100 Black Women, along with several other corporate sponsors. The purpose of the march was to raise community awareness about the alarming disproportionate rate of HIV infections in New Orleans’ African American community that continues to rise. The march featured a Red Umbrella contest, and the New Orleans Chapter of the Links, Incorporated was awarded 2nd place in the group category.
The march was a celebration of life, and we enjoyed supporting such an important cause.
