In May 2017, Atlanta, Georgia was the site of the 44th Southern Area Conference. The host chapters were Atlanta, Dogwood City, Magnolia, Azalea City, Buckhead-Cascade City and Camellia Rose. The 2017 theme was ‘Plugged In and Powered Up for Friendship and Service’. The Southern Area team carefully crafted a conference experience to make members more informed, Chapters more effective and our initiatives even more impactful. Chapters shared and developed strategies to achieve best programming practices in each of our Facets and Signature Programs. Conference attendees also had access to enhanced training, while other workshops helped foster our interpersonal relationships.
Members of the New Orleans (LA) Chapter took full advantage of the conference experience. Furthermore, the Chapter was recognized by The Southern Area in the category of Best Practices for our National Trends and Services ‘Civic Engagement and Awareness Program’. Additionally, the Chapter received recognition for its Arts Facet’s ‘Classics Through the Ages’ Signature Program.
