Throughout the 2020-2021 program year the New Orleans Chapter’s five facet committees worked with 25 – 8th grade girls attending Mary McLeod Bethune Elementary Charter School. The Chapter developed targeted programming with the goal of preparing students for the next steps in their educational journey and also introduced them to personal enrichment opportunities that expanded their worlds outside of Bethune.
The Chapter did not let the Project L.E.A.D. students’ 2021 Commencement Ceremony on May 26, 2021 pass without being there to cheer them on and personally recognize each participants’ hard work during the year. Services to Youth Facet Chair, Rica Trigs, attended the ceremony and, to each girls’ amazement and delight, they were bestowed with gifts from each of the 5 facets. It was a wonderful way to close out the school year.
