The New Orleans Chapter of The Links, Incorporated and NOLA.com/Times-Picayune sponsored the local competition of the 29th Annual Scripps National Spelling Bee on Saturday, March 18, 2017 at Xavier University in New Orleans, LA. Students in the fifth through eighth grades from public and non-public schools in a seven-parish area, including home-schooled students, participated.
The winner was Tien Nguyen. Second place finisher was Kaylie Nguyen. The third place finisher was Nischay Pothineni.
