THE GREAT DEBATE – POTUS 2016

The New Orleans Chapter of The Links, Incorporated, in partnership with the Alpha Kappa Alpha Inc. Omicron Lambda Omega Chapter, proudly sponsored a mock Presidential Debate on October 27, 2016. Student participants portrayed the 2016 Democratic and Republican presidential candidates. Democratic Presidential Candidate, Hillary Rodham Clinton, was portrayed by St. Katharine Drexel student Clarsey Hawkins. Republican Candidate, Donald Trump, was portrayed by St. Augustine High School student Allen Miller. Both debated the issues important to people across the United States and the exercise gave the students an engaging glimpse into the electoral process.

The 2016 presidential election is one of the most important elections in recent times and The New Orleans Chapter has been working diligently getting our youth knowledgeable, engaged, and participatory.

The Chapter thanks our celebrity moderator and local WDSU-TV Meteorologist, Damon Singleton, as well as Co-Sponsors, Senator Troy Carter, Hope Credit Union, Sheriff Marlin Gusman, Amistad Research Center, Attorney Kim Boyle, Attorney Ike Spears, Louis A. Martinet Legal Society, and Councilmember Nadine Ramsey.
