Members of the New Orleans (LA) Chapter of The Links, Incorporated showed support at the Inaugural African American Male Wellness Walk Initiative in New Orleans on Saturday, September 17, 2016 at Joe Brown Park. The Health and Human Services Facet shared important information about Hep C, AIDS and mental health and well-being.
The event was started 12 years ago in Columbus, Ohio and began as a fun way to bring awareness to diseases affecting black men and to offer them a place to get vital health screenings. Today, its focus is the well-being of the community as a whole.
Dr Corey Hebert, honorary co-chair of the inaugural event, said its time that everyone takes the initiative to take care of their bodies.
